BVW 2020 is NOT C***ELLED!

…but we ARE going online only for 2020 with some fun virtual events that anyone can join in.
The group that organises Ballater Victoria Week met to discuss how to move forward with this year’s events.
They decided unanimously that no physical events could take place in the village this year, owing to the Covid-19 restrictions.
Instead, it is hoped that a range of online activities will be made available to help keep people entertained, at least for one week in August (8th-16th).
Suggestions so far include continuing the Scarecrow Competition and Trail (for people to view at a distance on their walks), Potted Sports in your own garden, a Lego Shop Window Treasure Hunt, Messy Play's Messiest Kid Comp, Boot Sale Buy Swap Sell, Post Your Pet Shows, an online TV Quiz Show Quiz and... a virtual Duck Race (inspired by the Grand National)!
An added bonus to this approach is that it will allow BVW’s fans and visitors from afar to join in alongside local residents, from their own homes, if they want to, including making a scarecrow...
As always, most of the events will be free to join in and there will be cash and other fun prizes up for grabs.
Ballater Highland Games have suggested that on what would have been Games Day (Thursday August 13th) that people get dressed up in Highland attire and do what they usually do, be it pipe, dance or throw a hammer, wherever it is safe to do.
Further discussions will take place in the coming weeks, so if you have any ideas on how BVW 2020 can be brought to life, please pitch in.
