Ballater Victoria Week (BVW) is an annual community festival held in Ballater, a picturesque village in Royal Deeside, Scotland.
Established in 1987 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s accession and to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Victoria and Albert Halls, BVW has since become a cherished tradition.
Organised by a dedicated team of volunteers, the event brings together locals and visitors for a week of fun-filled activities.
Typically taking place in the second week of August, wrapping around the Highland Games, BVW offers a diverse range of events suitable for all ages.
Highlights include: Scarecrow Competition and Trail, Duck Race on The Green, Rufts Dog Show, Hobby Horse Trials and Roller Disco. In addition to these events, BVW also includes quizzes, discos, ceilidhs, and various sporting and outdoor activities.
The week serves as a significant fundraiser for local causes, having raised thousands of pounds over the years for various groups and causes in the area. The festival continually evolves, introducing new events while retaining the charm and community spirit that make it special
